Paint Colors

Here we go again with the difficult decisions.  What colors do we paint the rooms?  Along with the new bedroom, bathroom, and closet, we also have to paint the office and existing bedroom since the door and window were removed.  The easy option would be to just paint the one wall in each room the same color as the existing rooms.  However, Nick feels the need to paint the office a bright color since we lost the natural lighting from the sliding door.  I don't think the bright blue he has in mind will last long but if it makes him happy now, why the heck not.  I think he wants to paint it blue to match his high school sports photos and trophy display case.  Haha that was a joke, but may be questionable. ;)

Closet
We haven't given much thought to the color of the closet.  White seems fine to me, the walls will be covered by clothes.  Or maybe we will go with something funky like a neon green.  This color would surely wake us up in the morning and the closet seems like the only place to get away with a crazy color that isn't so easy on the eyes.  Hmmm...

Bathroom
Since we are going with a natural look in the bathroom, we'll keep the bathroom walls pretty neutral.  We have been comparing beiges and tans, and are opening up to a slightly yellow tinted color called Woodrow Wilson Maize.

On the other side of the spectrum, I like this bluish shade and think it would look good with the dark wood of the vanity:

Lyndhurst Duchess Blue

See example bathroom with what appears to be natural light:

This doesn't exactly fit the neutral theme but the color definitely catches my eye as a potential option.

Bedroom
I have been envisioning a purple and gray bedroom for a long time now.  Nick was on board when I showed him samples and images of inspiration.  I was sold on the colors but not sure exactly how to bring them into the room.  There's walls, furniture, carpeting, bedding, accents, etc. that can bring in the color scheme.  It's the deciding on where that's difficult.  Instead of focusing on one item at a time, I want to make sure we can pull it off well.  So if we were to find purple bedding that we just have to have, we'd make the primary color of the walls gray, etc.  The easiest thing to start with seemed to be the carpet.  This was easy since we don't want a purple carpet, gray it is!  We are still waiting on samples to select the exact color and type of carpet but gray is neutral enough that we can move on.

We haven't spent much time looking for bedding yet and nothing has jumped out at us so I'm thinking this may be a future decision that we'll have to work into the room after deciding on the paint colors. We've narrowed down the color options to a few combinations, we plan to incorporate multiple colors in the room.  Here are the runner ups:

Valspar Lucent Purple & Boysenberry Jam

Valspar Sweet Currant & Sweet Shadows

Valspar White Pepper, Winter Calm, & Opal Slate

I think the first combo is my favorite.  But I also love the last combo...I'm digging the more grayish look with slight purple tint.  Eeek I can't decide!  What are your favorites?!  Cast your vote! :)
