Rome wasn't Built in a Day

Neither was our master bedroom.  Patience, patience, patience....a virtue we are becoming more and more familiar with these days.  Due to the demo and construction of the garage and the electrical service upgrade, we've had to accept that extra work means extra time.  We were originally expecting 4-6 weeks for the project completion.  This coming Monday is the start of week 8.  But we are SO close!

The bathroom floor tile was completed yesterday.  Since the floor couldn't be walked on for 24 hours, the electrician is coming on Monday morning for the final electrical touches - installing the lights, switches, outlets, smoke detectors, etc.  We are also awaiting the delivery of the plumbing fixtures which should be installed this coming week.  We want to have all the painting complete before the carpet is installed.  Since the painting is all in our hands, we went into the weekend with high expectations of being super productive.  The walls and trim need to be painted and the shower tile needs to be installed.

We managed to paint part of the office last night.

Nick spent today tiling.  And I felt like Cinderella in my raggedy clothes scratching paint off the office floor with a bbq skewer, taping the trim around the bedroom, and filling nail holes in the trim with spackle.  Nick gives me all the fun tasks, huh?!  I was so anxious to paint but we didn't quite have time. We forgot how long it takes to tile and we didn't want to paint while the tiles were being cut in the room to avoid any dust accumulation on the wet paint.

Cutting Tiles

Tomorrow brings more tiling and possibly adding the grout, sanding the spackle patches, and hopefully applying the first coat of paint.  We expect lots of progress in the next two days!  Stay tuned!
